Will my dog like daycare?
Probably! Daycare allows dogs to have physical exercise and mental stimulation during the day while you’re at work. But some dogs may not enjoy the boisterous atmosphere of daycare. Our staff monitors dogs throughout their stay. If we see signs of stress or fatigue we will let you know and discuss possible measures for improving their enjoyment of daycare.
Why does my dog need an interview?
In order to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for every dog in our care, we screen dogs for sociability. Dogs who are aggressive are not allowed to be a part of our daycare playgroups. If a dog is accepted, but later develops or displays bullying behavior, they will be asked to leave. Doggedly Devoted is happy to recommend other solutions for dogs who are not suited for daycare. Dogs who board overnight with us also must be screened because they will be a part of our regular playgroups.
Will my dog get walked during the day?
Yes, all dogs get a at least one mid-day walk by themselves or with one other dog. Your dog’s walk is a chance for him to get special one-on-one time with one of our caring staff members. Our overnight boarders get at least three walks per day: first thing in the morning, mid-day, and again at night.
We believe time outside to relieve themselves is essential for happy, healthy dogs, so walks are included in our care. There is no extra charge for walks.
Where is Doggedly Devoted?
Doggedly Devoted’s spacious facility is located in the 1400 Fifth Avenue building, and the entrance is on West 116th Street between Fifth Avenue and Lenox Avenue.
Does Doggedly Devoted do grooming?
Doggedly Devoted offers exit baths for our daycare clients only. Just let us know when you drop off if you want a freshly cleaned dog at pick up! We do not offer haircuts, sanitation trims, or anal gland expression.
What vaccinations does Doggedly Devoted require?
We require Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvo/Parafluenza (DHPP, also called 4-in-1 or 6-in-1); Rabies; and a a semi-annual Bordetella booster. We do not accept titres in lieu of vaccination.
How old does my dog have to be to attend daycare? How old is too old for daycare?
All dogs must be old enough to have all the required vaccinations. Daycare is not appropriate for all dogs, and age can sometimes be a factor in whether a dog is a good fit for our playrooms. For puppies 6 months and under and for geriatric dogs, we take special precautions to make sure they get enough rests during the day and to make sure they are safe playing with the group.
